April 4, 2013 (Los Angeles, CA & New York, NY) – Magic Valley will be launched on iTunes (US and Canada), Amazon Instant Video, cable Movies On Demand and other VOD platforms on Tuesday, April 9th, 2013, and will also be available on the website www.MagicValleyFilm.com.  However, before that happens there will be a private showing at LA’s SoHo House on April 8, at 7pm and NYC’s Soho House April 12, 2013 at 7pm.  This event is only for SoHo House members.

About the Movie: As one warm October day unfolds in the debut feature of writer/director Jaffe Zinn’s acclaimed debut Magic Valley, the sleepy town of Buhl, Idaho will never be the same. A fish farmer finds his crop destroyed, two young brothers play an unusual game in the sun-dappled fields, and after a wild party a sleepless teenager harbors a terrible secret. Magic Valley is a story about the disappearance of a young girl in a small town, and the efforts of the community to find her before it is too late.

Magic Valley stars a terrific ensemble cast highlighted by Kyle Gallner (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Veronica Mars), Scott Glenn (Bourne Ultimatum, The Hunt for Red October), Matthew Gray Gubler (Criminal Minds, 500 Days of Summer), Brad William Henke (Me and You and Everyone We Know), Will Estes (Blue Bloods), Johnny Lewis (Sons of Anarchy) and Alison Elliott (The Assassination of Jesse James).

Magic Valley premiered at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival to a sold out theatre and went on to play all over the world at such festivals as Rome, Stockholm, Sofia, Wroclaw. The film was also recognized with the 2012 Florida Film Festival Grand Jury Award, the Sofia International Festival Special Jury Prize, and the Sun Valley Film Festival’s “Gem State“ and “One In A Million” jury awards.

About Jaffe Zinn

Jaffe Zinn was born and raised in Southern Idaho.  He attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, majoring in film. He has made a variety of award winning short films that have been screened at the Director’s Guild Theater of America as well as film and arts festivals in NYC, LA, Las Vegas, Boise, Moscow, Japan, and Portugal.  Two of his short films, “A Life for M-80” and “Bliss” were nominated for NYU’s prestigious Wasserman Award; “Bliss” receiving the award and garnering Zinn another award for Best Directing.  “A Life for M-80” was also awarded the New York Magazine Award of Excellence. Jaffe’s first feature film  Magic Valley, a film detailing how a tragic event unfolds over the course of a single day in the small town of Buhl, Idaho, won the Richard Vague Film Grant Fund of $75,000 from NYU.  When not working on film, Jaffe is one half of the indie pop duo Folded Light.

About Heather Rae

Heather Rae produced Frozen River which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, won the Grand Jury Prize and was acquired by Sony Pictures Classics. Frozen River was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Actress and Best Screenplay, won the Gotham Award for Best Picture and Best Actress and was nominated for seven Spirit Awards resulting in a Best Actress win for Melissa Leo and the Producer of the Year for Rae.  In 2009 Rae was named one of Variety’s “Ten Producers to Watch.” She was awarded the Vision Award at the 2012 Sun Valley Film Festival for achievement in producing.  Rae additionally produced Ass Backwards starring Casey Wilson, June Raphael, Alicia Silverstone, and Jon Cryer which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and The Dry Land starring America Ferrera, Wilmer Valderrama, Jason Ritter, and Melissa Leo which premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.  Previously Rae ran the Native Program at the Sundance Institute and was a programmer for the Sundance Film Festival.  After leaving Sundance in 2001 she went on to work for Winter Films as Senior Vice President of Production. Rae has worked as an advisor or consultant to the Sundance Institute, ITVS, the Rockefeller Foundation, National Geographic, PBS, Film Independent, Independent Feature Project, and other media companies and organizations. Rae sits on the Board of Trustees for the Sundance Institute.

Johnny Lewis — who played John in “Magic Valley”, Half-Sack on “Sons of Anarchy,” and a prime role on“The O.C.” and once dated Katy Perry — was found dead yesterday.  His body was discovered at the same L.A. property as the 81-year-old woman he’s suspected of murdering.

According to reports the 81-year-old Katherine Chabot Davis was heard screaming and then a man was seen fighting with two people only to proceed to the roof of the building where the woman lived.  The suspect, presumed to be Lewis (28) apparently rented a room from the 70 year old woman in the same building.  It is unclear if Lewis fell from the roof or if he jumped.

Law enforcement are not seeking any other suspects at this time.  The sole suspect is Lewis in this unfortunate occurrence.

Lewis is the former boyfriend of Katy Perry as they were seen at multiple Hollywood events together back in 2006.

Magic Valley was one of the last Full Length Feature Films Lewis ever appeared in.
I thoughts and prayers go out to all the families affected by this tragic event.
